Natrual erosion has revelated this granite staircase with mineral deposits and yellow and red lichens. The variety is as fascinating as the detail. I took the photograph through awe as much as the viewfinder.

The volcanic island of Stromboli puffs out volcanic ash, through one of the three active craters, the volcanic bombs. Some 500 people live on the island ... nothing would tempt me to do that!
