Cala Morell, Menorca, Illes Balears (Spain).

Cala Morell is in the north of the island, and it depends of the municipality of Ciutadella.

This area is composed of the "coll of Cala Morell to the east, to the north by secondary land and the point of "Les Torretes" ( the Towers) to the west called so by the figures of tertiary rock which have been formed by the strong erosion. One form which is outstanding is that of a full-sized elephant on the salient.

This salient adds to the shape of the cove which is some 200m. in length by 60 to 80m. in width with a small beach and quay at the end. Just inside the gully there are some caves, remains which date back to a prehistoric era.

The urbanization is situated on the east side and consists of white-washed villas and apartments which are scattered amongst the trees. There are some restaurants and supermarkets but they blend with the natural surroundings.

Naveta d'Es Tudons - lower chamber

Ciutadella, Menorca, Illes Balears (Spain).

A naveta is a megalithic chamber tomb unique to the Balearic island of Minorca. It dates to the early Bronze Age. It has two vertical and two corbelled walls giving it the form of an unpturned boat which is where the name comes from.

The largest example is the Naveta des Tudons which is around 4m high, 14m long and 6.4m wide.
