Tibidabo, Barcelona.

Tibidabo is the union of two Latin words tibi-dabo (I will give you) taken from the gospel of San Mateo, 4.9, that the third temptation of Satan to Jesus in the desert remembers: “I will give all this You, if you wilt fall down and worship me”. The Hieronymite monks imagined that the devil could have attemped Jesus, offering from this summit all the wealth to him of the city of Barcelona.
In the summit is the church of the Sagrat Cor (Sacred Heart or Sacré-Coeur), closely related to his homonym in Paris, and it's visible from all the city. In 1886 was builded a little hermitage in the upper point of the mountain.
Designed by Enrique Sagnier, the actual church consists of 2 elements: the crypt in the lower part, and the temple basilica in the upper part.
The Crypt was builded between 1903 and 1911, and the basilica begins in 1914, but the Spanish civil war destroys both in 1936. After the war, in 1939, the reconstruction begins. In 1951 the upper temple is finished.
The Statue of the Sacred Heart, by José Miret, is of bronze, it measures 7,5 meters and weight 4,800 kg. and it was placed in 1961. 11 days later John XXIII ignited from Rome the nocturnal illumination.

This is the church where I married.

Tibidabo, Barcelona.

The Fabra Observatory of Barcelona was founded the 1904, being since then property of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona, which is in charge of its operation and maintenance. Throughout these years the Observatory has been directed personalities of relief in the Catalan scientific world, as for example Josep Comas i Solá, Eduard Fontseré i Riba, Isidre Pòlit i Buxareu, Joaquim Febrer i Carbó and the current director Josep Maria Codina i Vidal. It was where the comet 32P/Comas Solá (periodic with a current orbital period of 8.8 years) was discovered by Josep Comas Solá.

32P/Comas Solá was discovered November 5, 1926 by Josep Comas Solá. As part of his work on asteroids for the Fabra Observatory (Barcelona), he was taking photographs with a 6 inch telescope. The comet's past orbital evolution became a point of interest as several astronomers suggested early on that the comet might be a return of the then lost periodic comet Spitaler (aka 113P/Spitaler). In 1935 additional positions had been obtained, and P. Ramensky investigated the orbital motion back to 1911. He noted the comet passed very close to Jupiter during May of 1912 and that, prior to this approach, the comet had a perihelion distance of 2.15 AU and an orbital period of 9.43 years. The identity with comet Spitaler was disproven.
