Less than a block from Cynthiana's Main Street (U.S. Route 62) is a Walking Dead mural. This building can be seen from Main but the mural itself faces the parking lot on the backside of the building. One has to be on South Walnut Street to see the mural.
The Walking Dead is a popular television series based on a comic book about survival after the zombie apocalypse. The wall features four of its best known characters — Rick Grimes, son Carl Grimes (RIP), girlfriend Michonne and biker Daryl Dixon.
Supporting character Carol Peletier is not on that wall but the actor, Melissa McBride, is from Lexington, Kentucky. I suspect that if five characters were painted, Carol would have been on that wall.
The mural was commissioned to honor local “Walking Dead” comic book artist Tony Moore and creator Robert Kirkman, who were both raised in Cynthiana, Kentucky. Sergio Odeith, an artist from Portugal, painted the mural.
The original comic book was intentionally set in Cynthia, Harrison County, Kentucky. Tony Moore told Kentucky Living magazine in 2017 that protagonist Rick Grimes woke up from his coma after the zombie apocalypse at Cynthiana's Harrison Memorial Hospital, "a place that’s been treating actual patients in Cynthiana since 1907. Same for Cynthiana’s police station. City Hall. Pike Street. Moore says, 'Rick’s house was actually my house in Lexington, across the street from Lynaugh’s Pub.'”
Nowadays, Kirkman's wife owns a bed and breakfast in town.

This is a direction post at an intersection on U.S. Route 62 in Bloomfield, Kentucky.
The hamlet of Quicksand, Kentucky is 111 miles in the same direction as Gravel Switch. I am heading on US-62 in a different direction, west, towards Possum Trot, Kentucky. City slickers can be comforted that Kentucky also has a Paris and a London (not shown).

This scene says vintage to me. It is a glance into branding history. However, the signs and words on the garage doors seem to be at odds with one another. I mean, barbecue and air conditioning service?
