Sitting on the fence where his dad, a horse riding rodeo operator, had left him, a little cowboy looked at me as I took photos.
"Wat'cha doin'?" he asked.
"I'm taking photos of the bull riding," I replied as I focused my lens on the rodeo ring.
"Bull riding is really dangerous."
I turned his way with a big smile to acknowledge his profound words of wisdom.
"I see that."
It was an abbreviated conversation, not unsimilar to how two grownup cowboys might reveal a profound truth to one another, which would be acknowledged by a response of, "uh huh." There wasn't much to add to his spot on truth. I nodded and then decided to take a photo of him.
He smiled back.
