Where are my eye drops?

[Note: Being that this is horse country and Halloween was approaching, I thought wearing a horse mask felt appropriate. This image–me working like a crazed horse on the computer– takes its inspiration from a photo that I saw years ago by Thomas Hawk that hit particularly close to home. (Its lighting stands out, among other things.) In my book, Mr. Hawk is a grand master of contemporary master photographers. He creates marvelous, distinctive, and unforgettable images. Fortunately for us, lots of them.]

The zombie plague had become airborne. Even in the Dark Age, some figured out a solution. Healthcare workers observed that masks stifled the plague’s spread.

Vaccines for healthcare workers to immunize them from the black zombie plague had not been invented. Viruses and vaccines were a few hundred years away from being discovered.

*Writer's note: The comments above are fictional. This is a photo I took from Louisville's Zombie Walk of 2019, where locals dress up as zombies and parade their zombie costumes. Zombies are fake. Vaccines do not turn people into zombies. However, scientists say that the real black plague was airborne. It was figured out during that time that masks help limit the spread of the disease.
