Brad Russel spotted this great red Barn off Highway 9. To access this required some determination the drifts were 2 meters deep. Though it was sunny the wind made the windchill -43C!

this snowy owl was posing and not all bothered by me shooting. I however could not get my focus to lock in after 80 shots this fuzzy blob is my best shot!!!!!!! the base of the pole would focus my shots before and after would focus but the 80 of this Owl are all deletes.
My blood starts boiling when I think of how frustrating this particular moment was. The entire afternoon and evening was a total success shooting landscape with Brad Russell and night shots of the Hoodoos. I brought my 7D with the 400mm to catch the snowy owls and we saw 2 or 3. I have a perfectly focused shot of one flying away!

Thanks to Brad Russell for suggesting a night shoot at the Hoodoos, My condolences to Brett Abernathy without the kitchen pass and he couldn't join us! A test of Man and Camera and accessories -33C with a wind but what a sky! did I mention the sky? My tripod was so cold all the leg joints came loose, Brad broke his cable release my big tripod seized and my hands froze trying to free it up!
