I took about 4000 shots while I was on vacation, I vaguely remember shooting this and it's nice when you can be surprised positively!:) That's the hotel in white where I was staying across the water

Take this path from the main entertainment buildings to the suites. This bridge is over the lagoon a dense mix of trees and shrubs with open water. Many animals live on the edge of this lagoon and they are in the middle of a large resort complex. The Racoon population has exploded in this resort; 6 years ago there were no Racoons just the Coati Mundi cousins but now you can't put your food down anywhere without a Racoon appearing!

My first night of my 2014 Mexico vacation {its already over and I'm back in Calgary}. Light pollution from the resort and main highway is an obstacle for the night photographer. I am light painting the trees with my headlamp.

in the sky Orion is cut off but you can see Betelgeuse is a bright orange colour compared to the blue stars of the belt. I am using my head lamp to light the rocks.

65m tall the first pyramid you encounter when visiting Coba. I was taken with the architecture of the base structures around this pyramid. It is the second tallest at Coba no climbing is permitted on this and it is beside a perfectly preserved ballcourt. probably built during AD 600-900 during the classic Maya period before the Toltec arrived. Stella 11 is under the thatched roof. Coba was developed before Chitzen Itza and had an extensive network of white roads (raised fired limestone rock) that ran out 100km to the present site of Chitzen itza. the white roads were used to travel at night.
