On the hindwing, this species has two strong black spots only in Texas and one spot in Florida, Arizona and California.

This small Blue (Lycaenidae/Polyommatinae) may be easily confused with Mallow Scrub- Hairstreak (Lycaenidae/Theclinae). Both are quite common species in the LRGV in south Texas.
