One of the highlights of the bird walk today. Peregrine Falcon, Marsh Wrens and Lincoln's Sparrow were also nice finds. Terrible conditions for bird photos but until I get a better shot this will have to do :)

I have done a field trip called "Big Day" for many years. We often turn up a nice list of birds. This year we were rewarded with the ultimate prize of a new county record...Black Rail! We played through the series of rail tapes in hopes of Sora and Virginia (both can be found on rare occasion) and for fun let the Black Rail call go. To our astonishment one started to call from directly behind us. We had one ecstatic field trip group :) private property , Howard County, MD
