I love being out early in the morning. I spotted this Vesper Sparrow flying into a sapling. Well before the sun was up I was glad to manage any image in the cold dark morning. Vesper's are increasingly hard to find and this is an unusually late one.

It was quite a treat to see at least eight Vesper Sparrows today. I will never forget the moment I saw my first small flock. Never an abundant sparrow I now only see them on migration....and then only rarely. Today I saw more than the entire year's sighting combined.

Although all sparrows are special the Vesper is much sought after here in Howard County. I will never forget seeing my first ones....they were never abundant but not "rare". Every year they are harder to find.....Highly cropped but every Vesper photo is one to keep.
