I found an interesting wetland spot that was full of Ishnuras....posita, verticalis and hastata. There were some of these reddish colored tenerals among them. I thought they might be teneral Citrines but after looking at this picture I am thinking I might have found some Eastern Red Damsels? I have to go back regardless :)

I like the name Eastern Red Damsel..... It's easy for a beginner like me. I'm trying to match the common and scientific names together in my brain but this one may just stay Eastern Red :)

May Bird Count in Howard is a great day to be out and bird all day. Would be nearly impossible for me to find a life bird now but not a life Ode :)

I went to the spot I had found the teneral female in May hoping to find a male. Three hours of slogging through the wet field and I had about given up hope.....then he appeared! I think he is simply astonishing!

The little Red Damsels were quite the difficult to find....and when I did they were not inclined to sit still for an instant. This was the only photo I could get after three hours of wandering the seepy field....but I loved every minute of it :)
