The British countryside just the way I love it: McDonald's, petrol stations, and cooling towers. ;-)

I believe those cooling towers were for a coal power plant, not a nuclear power plant. At least, that's what my mother claims.

It was a bloody expensive trip. It's something worth taking once, just so you can say that you've been through the Channel Tunnel (Chunnel).

I was a little disappointed, as it was my only trip on a high-speed train, but the high-speed portion of the trip was mostly in a trench, so you didn't really get much of a sensation of speed.

The McDonald's in Paris across the street from Gare du Nord station (which we travelled to by Eurostar train).

This was the first place in Paris that my brother and I visited on Bastille Day weekend in July 1997, and that particular McDonald's location really doesn't like it when you take a photograph of the menu, as though they've never seen Pulp Fiction and didn't know that I wanted to bring back visual proof that the Quarter Pounder is called "Le Royale" in France.

Also, the various McDonald's I ate at in Paris are the most crowded I've ever been to anywhere in the world, seriously! And it was 90% locals, too!

Funny part is, my DVD of Beavis and Butt-Head do America doesn't have a French dub, even though I live in Canada and have visual proof that a French dub exists.

A photo, taken on Avenue des Champs-Élysées on Bastille Day weekend in July 1997, at twilight.

Everything was all silver and blue in real life. I swear I haven't colour adjusted in this photo in any way, aside from the normal scanning corrections I do in Photoshop.

Even McDonald's Golden Arches don't appear to be their normal yellow colour.
