Nathaniel's dream is to get closer to God and to make sure his mom is happy.
Nathaniel is currently four years old and carrying wood with his two sisters down a dusty cart-road in an unmarked Amish village somewhere between Allegheny and Tionesta, Pennsylvania. In pauses between talking to me, he looks sideways at his older sisters, who peacefully nod towards him. I tell him that he looks big and strong and then I help him carry the wood to his parents' home, where he lives with his other nine brothers and sisters.

Large on Black: 'Amish Home' On Black
I found this home in the middle of Amish country on a July summer evening just before a rainshower was about to begin.

See the Large on Black: 'Graverobber' On Black
Taken at midnight in the old graveyard in Erie, Pennsylvania. One of my favorite things to do is to visit graveyards at midnight and listen to ambient music on my ipod, standing there for long exposures. I think some people would find this creepy, but to me it's good times.

Recommended View: 'The First Oil Well in the US' LARGE On Black
While getting lost in Pennsylvania, I happened upon the first oil well ever built in the United States. It was dark and cloudy, so I had to get out the equipment for a shot, of course. I'm a slave to this stupid camera, I tell you.
This was drilled in 1859 and was 69 feet deep. It's called the Drake Oil Well.

Spending a day with the Amish in a small unmarked area of remote Pennsylvania.
My brother said it appears as though I am stealing wood from Amish children.
