There were 6 of us, which is more or less the optimum number for a good campaign. I was the only Reaganite-capitalist among the five Soviet interlopers. I think, if we broke down people by personality and skillsets, we had a warrior, a shaman, a monk, a bard, and two clerics.

This guy, Vulva, would have been the monk. I'm not sure how to spell his name for sure, but he did respond to the word "Vulva", if you put a little "w" sound with the "v". Remember how Chekov was looking for the nuclear wessels? It was something like that. I say that Vulva was the monk of the group because his fingers and wrists were richly festooned with all sorts of Buddhist paraphernalia that he had picked up while in Tibet. He's the sort of guy that would be really intimidating if it wasn't for his kindness and zen peace.

Behind him are the Andes on the southern tip of Argentina.

When I stayed at Helga's delightful farmhouse near a northern fjord in Iceland, her brother came over and brought his son. They built a treehouse in the backyard and filled it with all kinds of goodies -- all in one day! The sun was low, as it always is there that time of year. He was running around, silently playing in the back yard. I thought his eyes were so other-worldly blue that I just had to take a photo.

This area was very close to the little town of Akureyri. It took me about three visits to this place before I was able to pronounce it correctly. I feel like a damned fool trying to say some of those Icelandic words!

Ranjit's dream is that he gets to work in the factory again.

Ranjit is currently sitting in front of an old restaurant on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. He used to work in a nearby factory, making aluminum parts, but he was replaced after his cataracts got too heavy and he began making mistakes. Ranjit does not like being a burden on his son, who doesn't come to see him much anymore. He says, motioning off into the distance behind me, "The boy is in Putrajaya, living in government house." He keeps reaching out in that direction, groping around, as if he is trying to find a light switch in the dark.

Topaz Detail vs. Topaz Adjust?
The photo below was made using Topaz Detail. I get the question a lot what is better - Topaz Detail or Topaz Adjust? It's a good question. I'm honestly not sure I have an answer. I use both a lot - they are similar, but different enough to stay two different products.

If you want to investigate more, I have a Topaz Adjust Review and a Topaz Detail Review here on the site.
Daily Photo - Japanese Badass Schoolgirl in Harajuku

Harajuku is one of the most interesting areas of Tokyo! It's filled with some of the most interesting-looking people you'll ever see. They get dressed up in all kinds of get-ups and parade through the streets (which also means they don't mind being in a photograph). The stores in the area cater to everything from goth to glam-rock to 100 other variations that I can't even describe.

I spied this one below, gliding through the streets and zoomed in for a quick one.

If you want to see how I made this (and how you can too!), visit my HDR Tutorial. I hope it gives you some new tricks!

Nathaniel's dream is to get closer to God and to make sure his mom is happy.

Nathaniel is currently four years old and carrying wood with his two sisters down a dusty cart-road in an unmarked Amish village somewhere between Allegheny and Tionesta, Pennsylvania. In pauses between talking to me, he looks sideways at his older sisters, who peacefully nod towards him. I tell him that he looks big and strong and then I help him carry the wood to his parents' home, where he lives with his other nine brothers and sisters.
