This office tower, then newly completed, is seen from Flagler Drive and First Street. I remember this building being nicknamed the "Darth Vader Building" during its early years.

Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge and Restaurant located at 700 North Atlantic Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale,FL. The 144 room motor lodge along with the Howard Johnson's restaurant opened on January 28th 1967. The restaurant operated until 1999 while the motor lodge retained the HJ name until 2004. After the the motor lodge closed the site sat vacant until its demolition on February 19th 2014. By the fall of 2017 an 18 story condominium complex was built on the site of the former Howard Johnson's.
Note the gate lodge featured a unique design which allowed cars to literally "drive under" the structure with the actual lobby situated next to the iconic A-Frame canopy.
Vickers Gas Station located at 140 North Main St. in Haysville,KS. The (former) service station is currently occupied by the City of Haysville Economic Development office. Note the gas station opened for business in September 1956. Its also worth noting there were at least two additional Vickers gas stations constructed with a nearly identical architectural design, however this location in Haysville is by far the most intact. On a final note the building and canopy is held by two concrete foundations which are each estimated to withstand the stress of 87,000 pounds. The support canopies were able to keep the structure completely intact following an F-4 tornado which occurred on May 3rd 1999 destroying dozens of nearby structures.
