An old-school Kmart in Watertown, Connecticut and one of a few left like it nearly in the country still retains its 1976 heritage with vintage signage that has yet to be replaced.
Fairly off the highway, on Straits Turnpike, this building began as a W.T. Grant (or Grant's) in 1971. Soon after Grants fell to bankruptcy, was like other locations, swooped up by Kmart in 1976. Through all the changes of SEARS Kmart, the closures of years past, Big K rebranding and all, this glorious location is nearly unchanged from its opening date, located a ways off I-84 and Main Street.
This store finally closed in December 2019.
