Riverview Plaza at Belden Ave & US-1 in Norwalk in its final years was a dilapidated, deserted, smaller T-shaped indoor community mall with an office complex attached.
Opened as Norwalk Mall sometime in the early 1970's, an attempt at revitalization occurred in 1993 with it being renamed Riverview Plaza.
In its later years, the troubled mall was heavily vacated, with most tenants moved out by 2007. In 2008, Avalon purchased the parking lot and left end of the mall and built an enclosed courtyard apartment community in its place. The mall, under different ownership, still hits behind the apartment complex and is completely gutted with signage still up.
The apartment complex had a rough few years in the beginning with tenants complaining of riffraff and criminal activity at its nearby bus stop and Winners OTB.
