The main streetscape entrance to the struggling, aged White Plains Mall located at Hamilton Avenue in White Plains, New York. This three-level urban center was built as the first enclosed mall in 1976 apart of a the city's urban renewal strategy. The long dilapidated center has become a burden for many years compared to the myriad other successful shopping malls, namely three others within relative walking distance, with a dodgy reputation despite its more pedestrian and ethnic mix of stores.
The nearby parking lot charges $5 for only the first half hour.
White Plains Mall has been under fire in the last years with a long overdue plan to overhaul and demolish the complex with a modern renewal project "Hamilton Green". As of June 2018, plans have been submitted and are being considered.
