The somewhat hidden, lower level area at Westland Shopping Center comes off as more of a utility and office area these days, with limited space for any retail. The elevator to the right can only be taken to the main concourse.

If you're wondering why this concourse looks bizarre for a shopping mall, you may understand if you had seen how far its come since opening in 1965 when the godfather of mall architecture, Victor Gruen, designed and opened this soul surviving relic in Westland, Michigan.
Though heavily remodeled and decimated since under a brutal late 70's concept, some of its original decor and oddities can still be seen. Ahead is where Macy*s operated last, closing in 2017 from a four-level former Hudson's.
