The California Air National Guard's 129th Rescue Wing conducted the rescue of a seriously ill 54-year old Croatian male on board a Panamanian container ship, the MSC FLAVIA, March 3, 2018.
In a joint operation between the USCG District 11, the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center, the 66th Rescue Squadron from Nellis AFB (23rd RW Moody AFB) and U.S. Marines based in Miramar, the 129th RQW flew a MC-130P Combat Shadow aircraft and provided a seven-man Guardian Angel Parescue team to rescue the ill Croatian patient 676 nautical miles off the California coast.
