North Dakota's Memorial to the Fallen in the Global War on Terrorism proudly shines in the morning light on the 11th anniversary of the attacks of Sept 11, 2011. The flag flys at half staff in honor of the victims, emergency responders that died on that day, and the US Servicemen and women that have died protecting our nation in the Global War on Terrorism. The memorial located at Fraine Barracks, Bismarck, N.D., is dedicated to members of the United States military and Department of Defense civilians who have lost their lives in the Global War on Terrorism. Dedicated on Sept 11, 2009, the memorial bears the names of 24 North Dakotans that died answering their nation's call in the Global War on Terrorism (23 Soldiers and one Marine) . The memorial is a joint venture between the city of Bismarck and the North Dakota National Guard.
