View On Black, it really is better...
Leaving the long exposure comfort zone... and entering the dark woods
Taking good photos of forests is a discipline in photography that I consider the most difficult and challenging. Especially in Black and White. How do you deal with all the nuances in light, tones and contrasts and how do you translate it to B&W? How do you deal with the composition? I've been struggling for months with the hundreds of treeshots I have. I think I've come to a point now that I think that I have a result that can be presented. But I still have a long way to go.
This is the first in the series for which I've been inspired by photographer Paul Hart

From the archives.
I've been experimenting with new techniques recently (extreme wide aperture long exposures during daytime with more than 20 stops, intentional movement with long exposures, etc.) but they didn't come out good enough for me. I will try again in the days to come.
So here's one from the archives with conventional techniques.

The yellow filter didn't work for me, neither did the green filter.. ...so I mixed both filters to come up with a... lemon filter? 1800 sec underexposed image! that's got to hurt! you've gotta be careful not to hurt your sensor when shooting at direct light... .. but I took the risk since the light went out for a second every 5 seconds Lemon filters

Now this is different from other long exposure shots I have done up till now.
Try to spot the major differences without looking at the EXIF data. To me this is an attempt to combine the specific landscape long exposure photography techniques with the techniques I used for my older shots like this
I will tell about my new approach in the commentbox below later on.
