I started my 52 cameras in 52 weeks project on 1st January 2010. It got rather out of hand and lasted a whole decade. Each week, without fail, I used a different film camera, a total of 522.
After 10 years, I am relaxing the pace, and revisiting all the cameras that I used for taking photographs, as opposed to collecting and displaying. I'm planning to do it in chronological order, using a different one each month.
In December I'm using a Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim. At first glance it looks like one of the hundreds of ultra cheap, ultra basic 35mm cameras that were common in the 1980s and 90s. There is however one important difference, while most of these cameras had lenses with focal lengths of around 32-35mm, the “Viv” as it is known to its fans, has a 22mm lens. This is wide by any standards, and led to the camera developing something of a cult following, with prices to match.
