Taken with a Trilogy 3D1000 camera which takes three half-frame negatives at a time.
The camera was originally marketed for making lenticular stereo prints. I taped red, green and blue filters in front of the lens, and shot on Rollei Retro 400S black and white negative film (this is labelled as Infrared, but is the same emulsion). The Trilogy camera is very simple, with fixed focus, aperture and shutter speed, it is only suitable for use in bright daylight, particularly as the filters reduce the effective aperture by at least 2 stops.
Trichrome photography involves taking three exposures of the same subject on black and white film. Each exposure is taken through a red, green or blue filter. These photos are then combined to produce a colour image.
