This ten-story Beaux Arts apartment building located on Wilshire near MacArthur Park was built in 1913.

It is tied to the literary world, used in the Raymond Chandler novel "The Lady in the Lake," and was also used as a location for the movie "The Grifters."

It was also reportedly a location in the film "Double Indemnity," and the actor Fred MacMurray purchased the building, eventually owning it for thirty years.

It went through some rough times with the changing neighborhood, but was renovated in the late 1990s.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and designated a Historic Cultural Monument by the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission in 1998.

2701 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles CA.
