Casco Viejo (Spanish for Old Quarter), was re-built and settled in 1673. The previous town at this location was burned down by Pirates. Casco Viejo is a wonderful place to explore and it is also the home of the Presidential Palace.

Gatun Lake, next to the Gamboa Rainforest, is a large artificial lake in Panama. The lake forms a major part of the Panama Canal. The lake was was created between 1907 and 1913 by the building of the Gatun Dam across the Chagres River. This is also where Monkey Island is located. It is full of white face monkeys and on the island next to it, there are a few Tamarin monkeys that were released into the wild.
