Here's a shot of a hand / arm model i've been working on and also a texture made using photo's of my own hands. I used Lightwave 6 to model the hand, Blender to create the UV and all texture work is being done with Photoshop CS5.
When i model objects i make them from individual vertices, creating each face one at a time. This can be a lengthy process but it guarantees that the final poly count is optimized.
This is actually my first serious attempt to UV map and texture a model i have created, despite having made thousands of models over the years.
The UV is optimized, i spent a considerable time on it and the texture size is 4096x4096 which is detailed enough to allow the fingerprints to be seen.
This model is for the on-screen hand / arm which will be seen picking up objects and holding weapons and items etc.
The poly count for a single hand / arm is 886, two on screen would be 1772.

Here is a shot of an old low poly Raptor model i made years ago, that i loaded into Mudbox with a lighting preset.
There are some obvious issues with the model, its proportions are off and the detail is quite lacking.
Its just an example of the range of my work.

This model was made from scratch using Lightwave 5.6. It was made by placing each vertice individually, not subdividing an object then manipulating its shape.
