It’s been a while since my last post on Flickr, but this year has been non-stop with travels! 🌎

Here’s the first of a 12-image series retracing my incredible year.

December
The story behind this shot:
I had just finished a private photography tour in Colombia and decided to extend my stay in Cartagena for an extra day to revisit some hotels and restaurants. As I wandered the streets, I stumbled upon this stunning shadow play—something I’d never seen before! It was one of those rare moments that only happen during the solstice and last no more than five minutes.

Instinctively, I looked around, hoping to spot a Palenquera strolling by to complete the frame. But no one was there. I waited, walked every corner, and watched as the shadow began to fade.

Here’s where patience—a photographer’s most essential quality—makes all the difference. Since I can work from anywhere, I decided to stay one more day. The next morning, I arranged to meet with a Palenquera, and she happily agreed to collaborate.

And voilĂ , here it is! Pretty happy with the result.
