Jean-Louis Barrault (1910-1994) was a French actor, director and mime artist. His pantomime training with Etienne Decroux served him well when he portrayed the 19th-century mime Jean-Gaspard Deburau in
Les enfants du Paradis (Marcel Carné, 1945). A rebel with many causes, Barrault hid French Underground members on the set of
Les Enfants du paradis.
María Casares (1922-1996) was a Spanish-French actress and one of the most distinguished stars on the French stage. She was usually credited in France as Maria Casarès.
