Street poem by Rutger Kopland, Surinamestraat, Den Haag, The Netherlands.

Ga nu maar liggen liefste in de tuin,
de lege plekken in het hoge gras, ik heb
altijd gewild dat ik dat was, een lege plek
voor iemand, om te blijven.

Now go and lie down dearest in the garden,
the empty spaces in the high grass, I have
always wanted that to be me, an empty
place for someone, to stay.

Street poem 'Herstel' (Recovery) by Sander Grootendorst, Kuiperstraat, Zutphen, The Netherlands.

My translation:

Recovery

The light restores itself in silence
warms itself on stones, branches, swings.
Sometimes there are butterflies, sometimes birds.
The light sways with the wind,
it is flexible, it adapts,
little darkness is enough.

Another poem ('Daglicht' (Daylight) by Judith Herzberg) and a strange fish, Zutphen, The Netherlands.

My translation:

Daylight

Out of chaos of sheets and
premonition got up, curtains
open, the radio on, wash
suddenly Scarlatti
very clear to understand:
Now everything is as it has become,
now everything is as it is
it will come, though, maybe
though, still okay after all.

Judith Herzberg
