Spanish postcard. Editorial Fotografica, Barcelona. Souvenir from Oswalda's performance at the Salon Kursaal in Barcelona. This was a luxurious cinema, opened in 1922, even if already from 1900 a wooden structure existed in the same place, called Gran Pabellón Cinematográfico Clavé, remodelled in 1910 into the Kursaal Cinema. In 1939 Kursaal reopened with the Deanna Durbin film Three Smart Girls, after repairs because of the civil war damages. From 1954 it could show Cinemascope and in 1959 it was the first cinema in Barcelona to use the Todd-AO system. The cinema closed in 1965.
