Discovered in the backyard

Yesterday I found this poor porcupine rolled up in a ball in the tree trying to warm up in the sun. I asked him if he needed my 'Little Hotties' (hand warmers) He put out his foot as a reply in picture below. He sure looked cold. If I knew he wasn't going to be a prick I would have brought him inside. lol Plus, I don't think mom would like that kind of a visitor.

They were hauling gold out of the ground but resorted to primitive facilities for those delicate bodily functions. St. Elmo Colorado. Walked in there over 40 years ago and it really was a ghost town. Now there are roads Quads, RVs. Tourists.

There was a Great Grey Owl across the road from this moose who was behind some thick bush. I was able to capture him through a little opening. He couldn't see me or he would have took off. The wind was pushing my smell towards the owl away from his nose. It was a dilemma trying to decide which one to shoot and I missed the owl taking off to get this image. The struggle is real on this very cold day, but he has a thick coat to get him through a tough Alberta winter.
