I learn a lot from Flickr and the wonderful work found here. Being exposed daily to art of this calibre has, I hope, helped me to improve as a photographer.
I'm beginning to realize that the peer group comments on Flickr are influencing, to some extent, what I shoot, how I process, and what I post. Not that this is a bad thing. I truly believe this feedback is helping me to make better decisions and better photos. But, perhaps sometimes I hesitate to post the types of photos that really interest me. Things like shadow and light; the beautiful, but rough, textures of certain towns and villages; buildings in disrepair.
These photos show some of those things.
Decrepitude is always better on black!
Part of the set Textures of a village - Cairanne.
The Project: VILLAGE TEXTURES. Trying to present the "feel" of each of a number of villages through photos of local icons, of details, of people, of village life. The textures of each village, if you will. Brought together in this collection.
