The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror opened in 1994 at the end of Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood Studios. With the demolition of the Sorcerer's Hat in 2015, the 199-foot, 13-floor, Hollywood Tower Hotel was promoted to park icon status. In the attraction's premise, guests visit the legendary hotel, once a lively resort for the Hollywood elite, which is now believed to be haunted after it was closed following a lightning accident resulted in the disappearance of several wings and the death of five people in an elevator that plummeted in 1939. After ascending through the floors of the hotel in a motorized elevator car and experiencing a surreal collection of sights and objects, visitors move back into the elevator shaft where a randomly-selected drop sequence begins.
