This house, at 737 Buena Vista West, once connected to the home next door at 755 Buena Vista West, was originally built by architect Edward J. Vogel for Richard Spreckels, nephew of the sugar magnate. Through the seventies, vocalist Graham Nash, of Crosby, Stills, and Nash, called the Victorian mansion home. Other famous residents included Ambrose Bierce and Jack London, who wrote his classic White Fang while living here. In the sixties, Gene Estabrook ran a small eight-track recording studio here. Quicksilver Messenger Service and the Steve Miller Band both made their earliest-released records for the film soundtrack, Revolution here. After Nash sold the house, it operated briefly as a bed-and-breakfast before actor Danny Glover purchased it as a private residence.
