Cinderella Castle, the iconic centerpiece of Magic Kingdom, was completed in 1971. Designed by Herbert Roman, it reaches a height of 189 feet, making it more than twice the size of his Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland. A set-building trick known as forced perspective, whereby the proportions to full scale are reduced at the higher elevations, make the 15th century, late Gothic-style castle appear even larger than it is.

Partners, a bronze statue of Walt Disney holding the hand of his most famous creation, Mickey Mouse, was dedicated at the end of Magic Kingdom's Main Street in front of Cinderella Castle in Disney World on June 19, 1995. It is a replica of animator and sculptor Blaine Gibson's 1993 original statue which was commissioned for Disneyland. The plaque directly below the Magic Kingdom statue displays the Walt Disney quote: "We believe in our idea: a family park where parents and children could have fun — together."
