Danubius Hotel Gellért, located at the foot of Gellért Hill at Szent Gellért tér 2, was constructed between 1912 and 1918, and opened as Hotel Saint Gellért in 1918. Named for Saint Gellért (St. Gerard Sagredo) the first bishop of Hungary in the 11th Century, Construction on the large Art Nouveau-style hotel was designed in the Secessionist style with some biomorphic elements by architects Ármin Hegedűs, Artúr Sebestyén and Izidor Sterk.

Damaged during World War II, the hotel was restored and the "St." was removed from its name, becoming simply the Hotel Gellért. Danubius Hotels assumed ownership in 1981 and purchased it outright in 1996, renaming it Danubius Hotel Gellért. In 2019, Danubius sold the hotel to Indotek, which announced plans to renovate and reposition it as a five-star luxury hotel. The adjoining Gellért Thermal Baths are independently owned and operated by the City of Budapest.

The current suspension bridge, replacing a flamboyant turn of the century iteration destroyed during World War II, was built between 1961 and 1964 to the design of Pál Sávoly. It is named after Elisabeth of Bavaria, a popular queen and empress of Austria-Hungary, who was assassinated in 1898.

Szabadság-szobor (The Liberty Statue, or Freedom Statue), sitting atop Gellért-hegy (Gellért Hill), commemorates those who sacrificed their lives for the independence, freedom, and prosperity of Hungary. Designed by Zsigmond Kisfaludi Strobl, it was first erected in 1947 in in remembrance of the Soviet liberation of Hungary during World War II, which ended the occupation by Nazi Germany. The 14-meter tall bronze statue, placed atop a 26-meter pedestal, was originally intended for a memorial of István Horthy, and would in that role have featured a human child instead of the palm leaf that was a Soviet addition.
