I looked out of our bedroom room last night to see in the cold clear light the Moon with Venus incredibly bright in the night sky. I am not particularly skilled as this sort of photography but I thought I would give it a shot . Apparently Venus is 162 million miles away frankly that blows my mind.
I wasn't the only person to notice the event the BBC had a report this morning

This railway bridge high over the River Kwai in Thailand looks quite picturesque now. It would have been very different when it was constructed .

This stretch of track was part of the Burma Railway ("Death Railway") in Thailand which was built with forced labour during the Second World War, in part by Allied prisoners of war. The pass is noted for the harsh conditions and heavy loss of life suffered by its labourers during construction. The Australian, British, Dutch and other allied Prisoners of War were required by the Japanese to work 18 hours a day to complete the railroad. many died from cholera, dysentery, starvation, and exhaustion.
