Atmosphere - Great Smoky Mountains National Park Scenic Landscape Gatlinburg TN

Just finished up our Spring in the Smokies workshops and saw some great scenes this year! There were a lot of thunderstorms in the Southern Appalachian Mountains this past week, providing some great conditions and light at some of the classic spots between Gatlinburg, TN and Cherokee, NC. I hope you enjoy the view!

Summer Rain - Asheville NC Blue Ridge Parkway Spring Flowers

An awesome summer evening from the Blue Ridge Parkway in the mountains of Western North Carolina, with passing summer rain storms bringing new life to the spring rhododendron flowers in the ancient Appalachian Mountains. I had an amazing sense of peace and well-being while shooting this incredible scene, a feeling that all was right in the world. The smell of the passing rain storms, the dappled light skipping across the mountain ridges, the fresh spring flowers at the peak of their bloom, and the warm rays of sunlight punching through the rain under the dark storm clouds creating the interesting area of hazy light in the back. It isn't often I get to enjoy a scene as rich with great elements as this one was, and it was an evening I'll surely remember for many years to come. Hope you enjoy the view!

Wild and Free - North Carolina Blue Ridge Parkway Scenic Landscape

Spring blooms and evening light rays over endless ridges of the Blue Ridge Mountains in western North Carolina. The Southern Appalachian Mountains just south of Asheville, NC., are incredibly scenic during the spring months.
