The McDonnell Douglas F-15A entered service in 1974 as a fighter interceptor. It was the first fighter in US service to have a greater than 1:1 thrust to weight ratio. F-15's served as defenders of the northern border with the 5th Fighter Interceptor squadron in Minot, ND until the unit was deactivated in 1988. Most were converted to F-15C's shortly after.
This model depicts the F-15A in 1:40 scale to match my other fighters. It is in the original all gray paint that the first Eagles carried before getting the more modern ghost gray camo scheme. Great examples of this aircraft in this livery can still be seen at the Dakota Territory Air Museum in Minot and at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford
