Architecturally Significant
Trinity United Church was designed in 1962 by architect James Strutt. It is quite unique in appearance, and has been judged to be amongst the top 500 buildings in Canada in architectural significance. It is said that it was intended to represent Noah’s Ark, with the pointed structure at the south end simulating the bow and the laminated redwood pillars embedded within the walls, while constituting the frame of the building, representing the spars. (The shape of the building may also have been partially dictated by the triangular lot.)

While I'm generally not much of a fan of modern architecture, and while I am usually mostly highly traditionalist in my favoured forms of church architecture, I like this; not only does it look like a representation of Noah's Ark, but with its oxidized copper roof, staining the concrete below the red brick, it puts one in mind of Parliament, the Supreme Court, and other federal government buildings downtown, and I like the fortress-like appearance, and the colour combo of red brick with copper green is striking, and visually pleasing.
