Daimler-Benz developed this closed version of the 300 SLR racing car for the 1956 season. However, it never sees racing action because the company pulls out of motorsport in 1955 after the end of the season. Instead, the 300 SLR Coupé serves as a company car for the head of the testing department, Rudolf Uhlenhaut. Today, its nickname "Uhlenhaut Coupé" is a reminder of this.
The 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé was auctioned off for 135 million euros in 2022.
