Crews on the
SR 520 West Approach Bridge North Project work to tear down one of the last north end walls of the former Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) building.
Demolition of the former MOHAI building began on Feb. 3 and will take approximately four weeks to remove. When complete, the site will be used as a staging area for constructing a new off-ramp from 24th Avenue East to East Lake Washington Boulevard. By the end of the project, it will become a retention pond that will capture stormwater runoff from the new highway, improving water quality in Lake Washington. The surrounding area will be integrated into the nearby East Montlake Park and Washington Park Arboretum.
