User / WSDOT / Morning commute on SR 18
Washington State Dept of Transportation / 33,726 items
Eastbound traffic on SR 18 in Snoqualmie, WA can back up the highway quite a distance every weekday morning. Many freight haulers are trying to take the ramp to eastbound I-90. But many, many others will come straight through the intersection to turn west toward Bellevue and Seattle. It's not uncommon for vehicles to block the intersection.

The I-90/SR 18 interchange improvements project will address the interchange and widen SR 18.

To improve the interchange we will build a diverging diamond interchange. These interchanges have fewer traffic lights and more free right and left turns, allowing traffic to flow more quickly through it.

In addition, we will widen SR 18 from the interchange to just west of Raging River bridge. This newly widened section will link up to truck climbing lanes, resulting in two lanes headed west toward Tiger Mountain.
