SR 522 was last paved in 2002; now the pavement is wearing out. Potholes like this are appearing in more places. Rather than repairing each little section, in summer 2021 WSDOT is repaving about 4 miles of the highway between I-5 and SR 523/North 145th Street in Seattle and about a quarter-mile between 58th and 61st avenues Northeast in Kenmore. The new pavement will help preserve the highway, in addition to providing a smoother driving surface.
