Cadets from the West Virginia Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy - South participate in a service project to honor Juneteenth at the historic Pierce Cemetery in Fayetteville, West Virginia, on June 19, 2024. The historic Pierce Cemetery, established during segregation, had fallen into disrepair, and local officials asked MCA-South to assist in preserving and restoring the site. During the service project, cadets worked side-by-side with the 2024 Class of Leadership West Virginia members and additional local volunteers.
