Imagery taken during an Inaugural Key Leader Engagement in Libreville, Gabon, from November 17-22, 2024, signifying the establishment of an official partnership between West Virginia and Gabon as part of the National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program. The SPP is a key U.S. security cooperation tool, facilitating cooperation across all aspects of international civil-military affairs and encouraging people-to-people ties at the state level. Through the partnership with Gabon, the West Virginia National Guard will seek to increase military and diplomatic cooperation, develop and expand defense capabilities, and facilitate mutually beneficial training interactions including top-leader engagements, non-commissioned officer professional development, basic soldier skills instruction, aviation maintenance training, disaster preparedness and response operations, and military-civil engineering.
