Statue of a woman/girl with both an intriguing smile and an intricate hair style with long plats, one of which has been restored. Possibly a caryatid (see here). Traces of colour (in hair) suggesting - as seems increasingly likely - that this marble work was painted in "real" tones.

The (headless) statue of an unidentified Roman man in military dress. Seen in the Museum of the Imperial Forums (Fori ?) within the Trajan's Market complex. The statue stands before a glass window overlooking the modern Roman street outside.

A 2000 year old caryatid from the Forum of Augustus on exhibition at the wonderfully restored Trajan's Market complex. A Roman "shopping mall". (see here and here.

This fine work gives substance to the emperor Augustus' statement "I found Rome a city of brick and left it a city of marble" (Augustus, Res Gestae)
