Pyramid Lake, Nevada and Pah-Rum Peak Pyramid Lake is the geographic sink of the basin of the Truckee River, 40 mi northeast of Reno, Nevada, United States. Pyramid Lake is the biggest remnant of ancient Lake Lahontan, the colossal inland sea that once covered most of Nevada. Wikipedia Pah-Rum Peak, with its expansive views of the Smoke Creek Desert to the northwest, the Black Rock Desert to the northeast and Pyramid Lake to the south, has become one of the hike leader's favorite day hikes. The hike is about 6 mi RT with 2600' of elevation gain. Pah-Rum Peak is the high point in the Fox Range WSA.
